Annan CAN is a part of Moffat CAN.  Moffat CAN is a social enterprise focusing on environmental projects, including recycling and local food growing.  While recycling, it became apparent that furniture was part of the waste stream that could be dealt with much better.  Plus people, especially young people starting out, are always in need of cheap but good quality furniture.  So the obvious thing to do was to set up a furniture re-use centre.  We thought Moffat didn't quite have a big enough population but that Annan would fit the bill perfectly.  So, Annan CAN Re Furnish was born!  We opened up on Easter weekend 2012 and now the shop is a thriving hive of activity.  Gwen Patterson is the acting manager there and she has a really great team of folk helping her.  All of the staff were previously unemployed and we have quite a few volunteers.  The shop sells mainly furniture and white goods but really you can find anything, from retro tea sets to push chairs...even a kitchen sink!  Pop in and see what you can find!
